Friday 21st January 2011, 5:30pm, Cambridge Union Society. Free entry for CUGS members.
A distinguished academic, honorary fellow of St. Hugh's College Oxford and winner of the Prix Vautrin Lud 'Nobel de Geographie', Doreen Massey is a prominent thinker in the discipline of Geography. First rising to prominence through her work on regional inequalities and the geography of work, Doreen Massey's contribution to understandings of space and place are cornerstones in the Cambridge Geography Tripos today.
In light of recent austerity cuts and shifts in economic public policy Doreen's ideas are more relevant than ever. Doreen will be interviewed by close friend and former colleague, Professor Ron Martin, also a renowned academic, over a range of topics regarding her previous work as an economic geographer and contemporary understandings of space and place in the epoch of globalization.
